The Author - Alex
I enjoy programming, math, science, and reading. I am fairly confident in three or four languages (programming ones, that is), and know a little of another dozen. I've done well in a few math contests, and got an award the three times my team did the Tech Challenge. I joined Woodside Priory's robotics team as an eigth grader, and did a lot of their programming. For exercise, I am doing cross country this fall (slowest boy on the team - go no cut sports!), and may just do PE winter and spring. I am also a life scout in my boy scout troop.
Below is a collage that I made of myself for my art class:

Changing Schools (Spring 2004)
I've spent the last three years in middle school at Woodside Priory. However, for ninth grade I'll be moving to Paly, my local public school. Several people have asked why - enough that I've gotten fed up with explaining. Basically, Paly is much larger and therefore has a larger population of geeks than Priory does. It also has a wider variety of classes. Actually, I wrote a story about the decision making process for a writing class that I took. Take a look at that for more details.
Programming Projects
As I mentioned above, I really like programming. I am also in a number of different activities, and as a result am working on numerous computer and programming projects, typically for one of those activities.
In-progress
- Blackjack (Computer Science class at Paly)
- ARC site (webteam)
- Medical information updater (Troop 57/Miriam Findley)
- Roster parsing (Troop 57/Mr. Christenson)
- This site
- Math club site (math club)
Planning
- Adding security to my cryptography program and rewriting in Java (may never happen)
- Writing a bad version of PHP in Python (probably will never happen - I'll just learn PHP)
